- Square Enix is launching its first Ethereum-based NFT game, Symbiogenesis.
- The game’s character auction will be held in three stages starting November 27.

Square Enix, renowned for its iconic video game franchises like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts, is set to debut its inaugural Ethereum-based NFT game, Symbiogenesis. The team behind Symbiogenesis disclosed the NFT minting schedule for the game’s characters in a recent post on the X platform. It noted that the auction process will commence on Monday, November 27.
Per the notification, the minting will unfold in three waves for the initial batch of NFT-based characters. The first wave is scheduled for November 27-28, followed by the second wave from November 30 to December 1. The final batch auction will be held from December 2-3.
Furthermore, Square Enix has disclosed plans to release 500-character NFTs for Chapter 1 of Symbiogenesis. The distribution will be divided among three waves, with ten characters in the first, 90 in the second, and 400 in the third and final waves.
In preparation for the launch, the publisher initiated allowlist access earlier this month, allowing users to participate in the auction by completing various quests and challenges within the game’s Discord chat server.
The Symbiogenesis NFTs will be granted at no cost to members on the allowlist during each wave. However, if multiple individuals vie for a specific NFT, it will be subjected to auction, enabling potential buyers to bid for ownership of the assets in question.
Described as a “digital collectible art project,” Symbiogenesis represents an original, narrative-driven game by Square Enix. The game centers around characters minted as Ethereum NFTs, items, and other NFTs created on the scaling network Polygon.
